11 Bold Predictions For The 2026 Formula 1 Season
The 2026 F1 season is only a few days away, and all the fans of the world’s fastest caravan are talking about it. We are no different. It is expected that this season will give birth to more than a few surprises.
While we do not have a crystal ball, seeing a tad bit in the future is something we will do, even if it turns out that we weren’t close to guessing it right down the road. There’s a lot of time until the season wraps up in December, and by then we hope that some bold predictions from this article occur, and even if they don’t, it will be a season to remember, we’re sure of it.
Max Verstappen to Win The Title
It doesn’t take a lot of courage to stand behind Max Verstappen and back him on the racetrack. After all, the man has four F1 titles to his name, and was on the brink of winning the fifth last season. The most impressive part of his last season endeavors was that he almost made the most unexpected comeback of all time as far as Formula 1 goes.

If you take a look at the F1 season outlook, Max is right there as being a favorite to win the entire thing right behind George Russell. That’s right, it is believed that Mercedes has the best package coming into the year, with McLaren’s double crown being quickly forgotten.
Even Ferrari is in the mix, considering just how good they were during the offseason. That’s why it is a bold prediction to pick Max as the winner despite his pedigree and past accomplishments. The fifth could be on the way nonetheless.
Kimi Antonelli to Reach The Podium on More Than One Occasion
The 2025 Formula 1 season was one of ups and downs for Kimi Antonelli. At times the Italian driver appeared to be out of his depth in F1, but as the season ended came to a close, he has shown the world the talent that made him a top draw in the world’s fastest caravan.

Mercedes has been doing amazing work during the last couple of seasons, and it is possible to see them doing this season what McLaren did last year and to take home the double crown. For this to happen, Kimi Antonelli would have to climb the podium more than once, and we believe that he has this in him.
His teammate, George Russell is primed to win the entire championship, and if that happens, we are sure that Kimi will be right behind him in just his second season at the highest driving level. Our bold claim lies in the fact that not only do we see Kimi standing right there behind Russell, but also see him in front, as we predict that there are wins to be taken home by Kimi when it’s all said and done in 2026.
Haas For The Win
You might call this one our first real bold prediction. It wasn’t an amazing year for Haas in 2025. Yet, they were close to the podium during the Mexico Grand Prix. Last season Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman came close on multiple occasions, with Mexico being their best shot. Their exploits on the year helped Haas being one of the best teams in the middle pack of the F1 caravan. Haas will try to do better this season, and we remain sure that they will succeed in getting their drivers to the podium if not even harnessing a couple of wins down the road. Yes, that will be a hard task, but we are sure that either Esteban Ocon or Oliver Bearman will have some time spent on the podium in 2026.
Fernando Alonso to Wrap it Up
It’s been a long ride for Fernando Alonso. The Spanish Driver will turn 45 years old this season and 2026 might be the right moment to call it a day for the decorated driver. The longevity that Alonso has had is rare among the top drivers in Formula 1. Fernando was a top dog for so long that his stint in F1is almost forgotten considering that Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Charles Leclerc have been in the F1 for over a decade.

No one comes close to the Spaniard, who could call it a day at the year’s end considering that he is not doing so well at an Aston Martin team that has failed to do the necessary work to give their driver a swan song he deserves. The chances are he will walk out on the team, with the matter of his career being wrapped up still remains in the air. We think both will happen at the end of the year.
Hamilton to Set Veteran Records
Fernando Alonso is not the only veteran in Formula 1 coming into the 2026 season. Lewis Hamilton is right there with him, but in a slightly better position. During the 2025 season, Hamilton had more downs than ups, and much more is expected of him entering the 2026 season.

Last year, he only had one Sprint win, and a single trip to the podium. We think that still has more gas in him, and that when this season starts he will show as much. If Lewis Hamilton wins a race in 2026 he will become the oldest winner since 1970, and we think that’s in the cards for him coming into the year. Hamilton is a seven time champion, and while he will be wanting to add the eight title to his resume that’s not too likely. Instead, his Ferrari team will have a better year compared to the last one, and together with Charles Leclerc they will be trying to push for the constructor’s title more than looking to elevate the individual drivers. Even if they do so, their effort in 2026 is more focused on Charles than on Lewis.
Teams Will be Quick on the Trigger
Last year was a tame one by Formula 1 standards. Teams weren’t eager to change their driving line ups; more focus was put on the new rules and setting up their bolids for the year ahead. Now, with every team putting out the best car product they possibly could out there in 2026 more pressure will be on the drivers to do their best and impress. We predict that the driver that could be first to get fired is Franco Colapinto. Alpine owner, Flavio Briatore, is well known as an inpatient man, and he has already put Colapinto under pressure even before the season started, and it is a known fact that more is expected from the Italian driver. If Franco fails to impress early on, we can see him being made a scapegoat for the Alpine’s not so impressive chassis and engine.
Cadillac to Impress From the Get Go
This season we have a new name in the world’s fastest caravan. It is hard to compete with the well established F1 teams, but Cadillac is entering the year high on hopes. New teams in F1 usually struggle in the early years of their creation, and nothing is expected from Cadillac on that matter, and they will be the last team in the rankings come December. The only other team we see struggling as much is Aston Martin. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean they will not have outstanding moments in the year. We believe that they can get on the scoresheet as early as in March in Melbourne. The season will be a chaotic affair with new rules put forth, and we think that with a bit of a focus one of the Cadillac drivers can take advantage on the racetrack and score the first points for Cadillac in the first race of the year.
There Will be First Time Winners
In Formula 1, winning doesn’t always mean finishing first. Getting up to the podium is the same as winning for many teams and plenty of drivers. It’s been a while since we’ve had a first time winner that actually shocked the world. No one will be shocked if Kimi Antonelli takes one home. Yet, if Alex Albon takes one home everyone would go ballistic. We believe that this season will have more than one unexpected winner, and more of them will spend some time on the podium throughout the year. After all, even in 2025 we had more than a few surprises coming our way. When you look at how the races ended, Isack Hadjar and Nico Hulkenberg had more podiums than Lewis Hamilton. Was that on your books in 2025? No, not in ours it didn’t. The 2026 Formula 1 season already promises to be a different affair, with new rules implemented, and new contenders coming our way, leaving enough space for outsiders to shine too.
Lewis Hamilton retires from F1
Yes, Fernando Alonso is not going to be your only legend to leave the F1 at the end of the year. We believe that Lewis Hamilton could be on a similar career trajectory. Of course, Lewis Hamilton is a competitor, and he has shown as much last season. It is just that he is not used to being the second option on the team. This season, his main opponent is going to be his teammate, Charles Leclerc. Last season, Leclerc showed the world that he can do more with the same vehicle as Hamilton. That was a wakeup call for the British driver, and we can certainly see him trying to do one better than Charles in 2026. Yet, that will not be an easy task, and if Hamilton realizes the harsh truth that he is no longer at the top of his game, he could easily say goodbye to his Ferrari team and to Formula 1 in general.
Williams to Lead Middle of the Pack
Williams has had one of the worst offseason among all F1 teams. Their start to the season is expected to be poor. The main reason is the fact that their car is slightly overweight. Toa degree, this is a good thing, as the bolid has shown some stability, and has looked good on the rack. At the same time, it is a tad bit lazy around the corners, and the drivers are attributing these traits to its weight. As the season goes on, this weight will be shed, and the car will be faster as a result. Taking this into account, the slow starting Williams will start climbing the ladder with each coming race. With this in mind we see them as being one of the best teams in the middle of the F 1 ladder.
Russell and Verstappen Will Collide Multiple Times
There’s an ongoing beef between Max Verstappen and George Russell. It will not bode well with the Dutch driver that the bookmakers are favouring the British driver to win the championship. For the first time ever, Russell will lead the pack from the get go, and all the pressure will be on him. The two men have had their fair share of beef during the last season and the words such as bully and backstabber have been thrown around. We expect the same level of drama in 2026. While the main threats for the Mercedes team are expected to come from Ferrari, there’s no doubt in our mind that down on the track Max and George will be going toe to toe. It’s interesting that at this stage of the season no one is taking into account the fact that McLaren still has Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. It would appear that the new regulations regarding chassis, powertrains and downforce have left McLaren trailing their biggest rivals creating more interesting stories away from McLaren.
There you have it. Just some of the bold predictions that we expect to come true down the stretch during the 2026 Formula 1 season. With only a few more days to go until the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, you are free to make predictions of your own.
