Marco Bezzecchi wins Brazilian GP

MotoGP News: Bezzecchi leads Aprilia 1-2 in Brazil

Marco Bezzecchi (pictured) took the lead at the start and led the Brazil GP MotoGP race the rest of the way to win by 3.2s over Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin at the Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna.

Bezzecchi made history for Aprilia with a fourth MotoGP victory in a row during a shortened 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix at Goiania. The Brazilian race distance was slashed from 31 laps to 23 laps just minutes before the start due to unspecified “track degradation”.

Polesitter Franco Di Giannantonio came in third, 3.78s behind Bezzecchi. He was beaten to victory by Marc Marquez in the Sprint, squeezed inside the reigning champion for second on lap 6.

Marc Marquez, who won the Sprint race on Saturday, could only manage 4th place in the feature race, 4.1s behind Bezzecchi.

Ai Ogura rounded out the top-5, 8.4s behind Bezzecchi.

Despite a challenging start to the weekend – including a difficult Friday practice where he ended up P20 – Bezzecchi produced a stunning turnaround. After topping warm-up and qualifying second, he blasted past poleman Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) with a perfect holeshot at Turn 1 and controlled the race from the front for all 23 laps, setting multiple fastest laps along the way.

Jorge Martin advanced from fifth on the grid and slotted into second place around lap six after a clever multi-rider move at Turn 4, completing Aprilia’s first-ever 1-2 finish in MotoGP history. Di Giannantonio defended third brilliantly in a tense battle with Marc Márquez, who had dominated Saturday’s Sprint but couldn’t match the Aprilia pace on Sunday.

This triumph marks Bezzecchi’s fourth consecutive Grand Prix victory – the first time any Aprilia rider has achieved such a streak in the premier class – as he led every one of the 101 laps across those four wins.

“It was a tough weekend, it was super tough on Friday, we started in a bad way and it was difficult to keep the motivation super high,” said Bezzecchi. “But the guys did a wonderful job and I pushed myself over the limit to try to compensate everything I could and at the end we found the way to make the bike in a fantastic way.

“I adjusted some details on my riding and from this morning I felt better, so I said, ‘Okay, maybe I can try to fight.’ It was an amazing race, I’m super happy.”

The result also propelled Bezzecchi into the lead of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship with 56 points. He now holds an 11-point advantage over teammate Jorge Martin (45 points), with Pedro Acosta third on 42 points. Aprilia also took control of the constructors’ standings.

Aprilia’s dominant early-season form continues to be the story of 2026, with the RS-GP clearly the bike to beat as the championship heads into its next round.
