Citroën has officially confirmed its continued participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as the series transitions into the new GEN4 era starting from Season 13.

The announcement was made by Citroën CEO Xavier Chardon on 20 March in Madrid, ahead of Round 6 of the current season.

“At Citroën, innovation must serve real life. Formula E — and now GEN4 — is how we turn electric performance into everyday progress. Motorsport has always been part of our DNA. We are proud to be fully involved in this new chapter,” said Xavier Chardon.

The decision positions Formula E as a key pillar in Citroën’s broader electrification and performance strategy. The brand plans to leverage the technical expertise gained in the championship to accelerate development for road-going electric vehicles.

The announcement comes as Stellantis reorganizes its Formula E presence: DS Automobiles is exiting after Season 12, while sister brand Opel prepares to enter as a new factory team for GEN4.
