NASCAR News: Corey Heim Rocks Rockingham Truck Race
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Corey Heim doesn’t race full-time anymore, but on Friday night at Rockingham Speedway, he reminded everyone why he’s still one of the most dominant forces in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Leading a career-high 178 of 200 laps in the Black’s Tire 200, Heim powered his No. 1 Tricon Garage Toyota to victory — his second win of the 2026 season and the 25th of his career. Yet for all the dominance, the finish was pure drama. In the final four laps, a sudden vibration rattled through the truck like a tire going flat. Steering skewed hard right. Tires chattered violently in the corners. What should have been a cruise to the checkered flag suddenly became a desperate fight for survival.
Heim refused to surrender.

Charging hard from behind was his own Tricon teammate, Kaden Honeycutt, in the No. 11 Tundra. Honeycutt, still chasing his first career Truck Series win, pulled alongside and even nosed ahead on the white-flag lap. But Heim wasn’t done. Using every ounce of racecraft — and a perfectly timed block off teammate Tanner Gray — he slammed the door in Turn 1 and held on to win by a razor-thin 0.090 seconds.
“I had to turn the wheel 20 degrees to the right just to keep it straight down the straights,” Heim said afterward, still catching his breath. “It was chattering so bad in the corners I thought we were going to lose it in the worst way possible. But it hung in there. I used a couple of lapped trucks to my advantage and just did what I had to do.”
Honeycutt, gracious in defeat, had no regrets about racing his teammate clean.
“I tried everything I could without putting us both in the marbles,” he said. “I wanted to win, but I’m proud that a Tricon truck won. Our organization has been incredibly strong this year. Our time will come.”

The win wasn’t just about the checkered flag. Heim swept both stages for the 13th time in his career — the first driver this season across NASCAR’s top three series to score maximum points in a single race. He also claimed his second straight Triple Truck Challenge victory, pocketing a $100,000 bonus and setting up a shot at the $500,000 grand prize next weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“Winning the Triple Truck bonus would be cool — to be the first to sweep all three,” Heim said with a grin. “There’s a lot of motivation in the No. 1 camp right now, especially with Celsius on the truck next week. We’re excited.”
Layne Riggs drove a strong race to finish third for Front Row Motorsports. Stewart Friesen was fourth, followed by Grant Enfinger, defending Rockingham winner Tyler Ankrum, Corey LaJoie, Ty Majeski, pole-sitter Jake Garcia, and Cole Butcher.
(Note: Post-race inspection disqualified the No. 38 Ford of Layne Riggs’ teammate for failing rear body height requirements. Heim’s No. 1 Toyota passed inspection, confirming the official result.)
For a part-time driver chasing opportunities across all three national series, Heim’s night at the historic North Carolina short track was more than a win — it was a statement. The kid who once dominated in the No. 11 is proving he can still own the Truck Series, one white-knuckle finish at a time.
