40% of COTA resurfaced ahead of 2020 season

Turn 1 is done. If they didn't stabilize the underlying soil, within a few years the track will be washboard again.

Last year, the MotoGP riders and IndyCar drivers had found a nasty surprise waiting for them when they arrived in Austin last April – a washboard track surface caused by the ground settling in and around the track.

In the past few weeks, work has begun for resurfacing 40% of the asphalt of the track.

The resurfacing includes Turns 1, 2, 9, and from 16 to 19, in addition to the back straight between Turns 11 and 12.
