TV Viewers from this past weekend – NASCAR was in action Saturday night at Daytona Speedway for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 and IndyCar was in action at the Milwaukee Mile.
NASCAR
NBC got a 1.76 rating and 3.297 million viewers for Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 Cup race at Daytona, down 5.8% from a 1.95 rating and 3.5 million TV viewers last year.
The CW earned 1,092,000 total viewers for Friday’s Wawa 250 Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway. Viewership was up 33% over last year’s summer Daytona race, airing on the same weekend.
Compared to the 24th race of the regular season last year at Atlanta, viewership was up 36%. Viewership peaked at 1,179,000 total viewers in the closing laps.
Both NASCAR races dwarfed IndyCar.
IndyCar
FOX averaged 779,000 TV Viewers for Sunday’s NTT IndyCar race at the Milwaukee Mile, up 6% from 735,000 TV viewers for last year’s race.
The race peaked at 854,000 viewers from 4:15-4:30pm ET
Unfortunately, this year’s TV viewership is down 47.8% from the all-time high for this race of 1.409 million viewers on ABC in 2012, indicating IndyCar has a very long way to go to regain some of its past glory.
