ECR UNVEILS ED CARPENTER’S NO. 33 FOR THE 110TH RUNNING OF THE INDIANAPOLIS 500

IndyCar News: ECR Unveils Ed Carpenter’s No. 33 SlimFast Special for Indy 500

Ed Carpenter Racing (ECR) today revealed the livery for driver-owner Ed Carpenter’s No. 33 Chevrolet entry in the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500. The car, dubbed the No. 33 SlimFast Special, features prominent sponsorship from SlimFast and AES Indiana, along with support for Indiana-based charitable organizations HATCH and Riley Children’s Foundation.

The unveiling took place on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis on March 25, 2026. Carpenter will make his 23rd start in the Indianapolis 500, his hometown race, driving the third entry alongside teammates Alexander Rossi and Christian Rasmussen. He is the only driver in the 33-car field who also owns and operates his own team.

SlimFast, a protein and meal-replacement brand recently acquired by Heartland Food Products Group and now headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, will appear in the car’s iconic red branding. Heartland plans to relaunch the brand later in 2026 with updated formulas and packaging.

Ted Gelov, owner of ECR and Chairman and CEO of Heartland Food Products Group, said: “We’re proud to share Ed Carpenter’s No. 33 SlimFast® entry for this year’s Indianapolis 500, a race that means so much to our team and our hometown. The addition of SlimFast® to the Heartland family reflects a continued focus on health and wellness… With SlimFast® joining Splenda® and Java House® on our cars this May, we’re excited to showcase our entire portfolio of iconic brands on the biggest stage in racing.”

AES Indiana, the state’s primary retail electric service provider serving more than 500,000 customers in Indianapolis and central Indiana, joins as a key partner on the No. 33.

Brandi Davis-Handy, President of AES Indiana, stated: “AES Indiana has been part of the fabric of Indianapolis for more than a century, and the Indianapolis 500 is one of the traditions that makes this a great community… Partnering with ECR and supporting Ed as he competes in his hometown race is a powerful reflection of who we are—local, invested, and proud to help power moments that matter to this city.”

The entry also includes branding for HATCH, a Carmel-based hunger-relief organization that delivered more than 102 million protein-rich meals in 2025, and Riley Children’s Foundation, ECR’s longtime partner supporting pediatric health initiatives across Indiana.

Carpenter, a 45-year-old Indianapolis native, made his Indy 500 debut in 2004. He has more than 200 NTT IndyCar Series starts, 24 top-10 finishes, and has led at least one lap in 15 of the past 16 seasons, including leading last year’s 500. He is tied for eighth on the all-time list for most Indy 500 starts and holds three pole positions (2013, 2014, and 2018—the latter making him just the 10th driver in history with three or more poles).

“There is always so much motivation to win the Indianapolis 500, both for myself as a driver and for ECR as a whole,” Carpenter said. “I’ve been fortunate to run this race many times now, but it means a little more every time you get the chance to compete in it. To represent SlimFast, AES Indiana, and many other Indiana partners is something I take a lot of pride in.”

The No. 33 will make its on-track debut during the full-field open test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on April 28-29. Indianapolis 500 practice begins May 12, with qualifying on May 16-17. The race is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, at 11 a.m. ET and will be broadcast live on FOX.
