Rojas Puts Lexus On Pole at Mexico City 250

Hometown hero Memo Rojas grabbed the pole by two one-thousandths of a second in Friday's qualifying for the Mexico City 250 to give Lexus its first pole position of the 2008 Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16.

Rojas' pole was his first in the No. 01 Telmex Lexus. He and teammate Scott Pruett will look for the team's second Mexico City win from the pole in the last three years on Saturday. The duo have combined to win each of the season's first two races and take a 13-point lead into Saturday's event at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

"I'm really happy to have won my first Rolex Series pole here in Mexico," said Rojas. "It was a great effort by the team. We struggled with chassis setup, but thankfully we made the right decisions towards the end of the last practice session and in qualifying. We'll see tomorrow. The race has yet to start and we still have a lot of work to do."

Shane Lewis made it two Lexus-powered prototypes in the top 10 with a 10th-place showing in the #3 Southard Motorsports Lexus. Lewis will team with Bill Lester tomorrow. The pairing earned their first top-10 finish of the season last race at Homestead.
