Ecclestone: Greek Grand Prix still a possibility

Formula 1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone has said that a Grand Prix in Greece still remains possible, despite the nation being close to bankruptcy.

The sport will travel to a selection of new destinations over the next handful of seasons, with India hosting its inaugural race in October before the Unites States returns to the calendar with its brand-new circuit in Austin, Texas in 2012. Two years later, Russia will enter the schedule with Sochi’s circuit based on the site of the Winter Olympics.

“After Russia I would like to go to South Africa and Mexico," Ecclestone explained to The Independent. “Both countries are trying to do something. Greece are also trying to do a Formula 1 race – the Germans will lend them some money."
