Overheard at Watkins Glen

The weather here in Watkins Glen today is absolutely perfect – cool dry and a high of 75. The temperatures will rise Saturday and then hit 92 on Sunday. The first practice for IndyCars does not get underway until 2:45 PM……….Ran into Justin Wilson. He has high hopes for this weekend, but unfortunately every test session they have gone to this year has rained out. Wilson is the defending race winner here and although Dale Coyne's team owns the winning setup from last year, Wilson says he remembers what worked and what did not and he hopes to apply that to the Dreyer and Reinbold car. Speaking of Dreyer & Reinbold, Paul Tracy will be Wilson's teammate this year. Wilson jokingly said, "my goal is to have every driver in the paddock as a teammate before the year is over."……After this race for Dreyer & Reinbold, Paul Tracy will return to the KV Racing team for the upcoming Canadian races in Toronto and Edmonton……We hear that any new engine manufacturer who wants to enter IndyCar under the new 2012 rules, must notify the IRL by the end of this season. As far as who might have an interest besides Honda, we hear that Ford and GM are looking at it…..More later….. Mark C. reporting from Watkins Glen
