Arabs may save Brit GP

Rumors across the pond are telling us that Middle Eastern financiers are moving to takeover the British Grand Prix and now-assumed host track Silverstone, according to a report in the Sunday Express newspaper. The rumored plan is to improve the Northamptonshire venue, and enable the track to host the British GP.

However, it seems that the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) is not keen to the idea and has stated that they "…will not stand by and let the directors ask them to sign away their rights".

BRDC president Damon Hill said he has "…no idea of anybody who has been engaged in a deal." while also admitting that the goal is to "attract a significant investor to take on the risky part of running Silverstone."

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone said: "I've not spoken to anybody."
