IndyCar must really be hurting for money

No IndyCar Awards banquet is a punch in the eye to whoever wins the championship

After drivers and teams fight so hard to win the championship and look forward to the proper recognition after the season ends, IndyCar once again will not hold a season-ending awards banquet in 2018.

NASCAR does it, and so does the NHRA.

NASCAR hosts its banquet in Las Vegas two weeks after the season ends, while NHRA will once again host its annual pro classes driver awards banquet in Hollywood one day after the current season concludes in mid-November.

But not so for IndyCar – money must be extremely tight as they suffer from lack of sponsor money due to their decision to put races on NBCSN, causing sponsors to run for the hills due to low TV ratings.

To make matters worse, the season ending grand finale race to crown the champion will be at Sonoma with few fans in attendance and few people watching on NBCSN.

The only saving grace of having the grand finale on NBCSN is few people will see all the empty seats that make IndyCar look like a loser.

Why is the grand finale at a venue that makes the series look so bad? Have they no common sense?
