UPDATE Although losing the race is disappointing for Sonoma IndyCar fans, it will be a positive financial change for the track, Page said.

"From a quarter-million-dollar loss to renting the track for six figures to someone, it will contribute to our bottom line in a positive way," he said.

"We love promoting races. We enjoy hosting an IndyCar race," he said. “It’s just not an economically viable business." — Steve Page – Sonoma Raceway President

07/17/18 Below is a comment from Sonoma Raceway President and General Manager Steve Page regarding INDYCAR’s three-year contract with WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

“We wish INDYCAR and our friends at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca the very best with their new event. Please join us in Sonoma this September for the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season finale."
