Most Champ Car employees laid off

Following the announcement of a merger with the IRL, Champ Car will be dissolved. Most of its 50-some employees were laid off Friday during a group meeting. A skeleton crew will be retained temporarily, likely through the April 20 race when they plan to stage a race in Long Beach while the IRL is racing in Motegi.
