BMW: Vettel and Glock might return

Mario Theissen has not ruled out the possibility of Sebastian Vettel and Timo Glock returning to BMW Sauber.

The German starlets were the Hinwil-based team's test and reserve drivers this season but in 2008 Vettel will race for Toro Rosso while Glock has won a seat with Toyota.

But BMW's director of motorsport is hopeful that the duo might return to the team sometime in the future.

Of their departures Theissen told Crash.net radio: "It's not disappointing to me.

"I would say it's rather natural. There are a lot of competitive drivers fighting for very few seats, and it is clear that a newcomer has to work up through the ranks."

"It is normal for me that they get a chance and take that chance elsewhere. That doesn't necessarily mean they will stay elsewhere, though, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to get them back in our car again one day."

Theissen explained that the German marque are still looking to replace Vettel and Glock – with Marko Asmer, Nico Hülkenberg, Christian Vietoris and Adam Carroll all touted as possible candidates.

"We are certainly looking beyond Germany," Theissen said.

"We have always done that. The fact we had two German guys this year is not so much about their nationality, but more about their having been part of Formula BMW." SkySports
