NASCAR paying Ganassi?

Question: Whoa! About once a week I see you sneak a line in somewhere that makes me sit up and take notice. Your Nov. 17 answer re: Ganassi did it for me. Are you really saying that Chip is getting financial help from NASCAR to field foreign drivers? Ditto, I guess for Franchitti’s ride, Villeneuve’s ride and Carpentier’s ride. If so, what would your guess be on that arrangement? (Gary, Fort Wayne, Ind.) Answer: Yes, I think it’s possible NASCAR cut Ganassi a deal relative to sharing international TV rights, especially as it relates to Montoya and South America. In fact, I think it would have been smart for NASCAR to do everything it could to make sure Montoya and other international stars make the jump. Why is this so difficult to imagine? Indystar.com
