We are hearing that Ethanol may indeed be used by Champ Car next year, but it won't be 100% Ethanol like the IRL uses but an E85 blend like you can buy at the gas pump. Champ Car feels that has more correlation to the consumer market than 100% Ethanol. E85 is up to 85% Ethanol by volume and 15% gasoline. Cosworth is confident they can easily make the switch and they will not have to increase engine displacement (costly) like they did in the IRL to compensate for the loss in HP by switching from Methanol to Ethanol. They will simply increase turbo boost and strengthen the pistons and connecting rods (if necessary)……..Sierra Sierra reiterated again that they are keeping the door open to possibly moving up to Champ Car but that would be contingent on finding more sponsorship….15-year old Mexican sensation Esteban Gutierrez won Sunday's Formula BMW race (his 3rd of the year) and he's looking at either a future in Atlantics and then Champ Car or GP2 and then F1……..American Jonathan Bomarito, who won today's Atlantic race, is hoping to get a Champ Car test in the off-season and use that as a springboard to get sponsorship for a move up to Champ Car in 2008.
