Will Audi skip St. Pete race?

UPDATE This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today based on this Hot News item whereby Audi has committed to be at St. Petersburg this weekend.

03/26/07 Audi, unhappy with the IMSA rules that enable the LMP2 cars to be almost as fast as the LMP1 cars is exerting pressure to force a change. As of midday Monday – less than four days before practice begins for the Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg – Audi AG had not provided the American Le Mans Series with an official written confirmation of its commitment to compete in the 2007 season beyond Sebring. Although the company has now – after letting the ALMS twist in the wind since the ides of March – told the series it will race at St. Petersburg, absent some written confirmation IMSA has declined to release the official entry list.
