Another Atlantic driver may move up to Champ Car

UPDATE #2 We spoke to David Martinez Thursday at Mazda Raceway and he told AutoRacing1.com that he was indeed in talks with Forsythe Racing and they are trying to put a deal together with a sponsor in Mexico, but he's not sure it will come together. And if it does, he will be behind the 8-ball. "It will be hard for a rookie like me with no seat time in the new car, I would have liked to have been testing this week" said Martinez, "but I hope Mr. Forsythe can make it happen."

03/05/07 Our Scott Morris snapped these photos at Sebring last month of Martinez in a Forsythe Racing driving suit doing some filming for some PR material. Hmmm……..

03/05/07 Proving that the Champ Car Atlantic ladder system really does work, according to AutoRacing1.com sources in Mexico, a third Atlantic driver, David Martinez, is in the running for the 2nd Forsythe Champ Car seat. If successful he would join Graham Rahal and Simon Pagenaud in the move up to Champ Car in 2007. Martinez did run one Champ Car race in 2006 for Forsythe, in Mexico City, where he qualified and finished a respectable 9th in his debut.

According to our sources, Martinez is up against one other driver for the 2nd Forsythe seat.
