Champ Car races slated to move to Eurosport 2?

As Champ Car hits the European tracks, it will likely disappear from the screens from the majority of European people. Instead of the main Eurosport channel the coverage is set to move to Eurosport 2 because of poor ratings in 2006. These are quotes from a motorsports commentator for Eurosport.

"Unfortunately, the viewing figures for last year were very disappointing, surprising, considering the number and pedigree of European drivers in the series. Because of the bad ratings, there is a 90% chance that all the Champ Car races will be on Eurosport 2, which means 100% live and with very few ad breaks."

"Here is the latest update. The Eurosport schedules were updated last night through the week ending 8/04. The opening round from Las Vegas will be Live on Eurosport 2. But the season will kick off in style. There will be a 30 minutes intro starting at 21:00 CET. Than the race coverage is scheduled for 150 mins – from 21:30-00:00! I don't know what more could you want. Of course it will be better if the race was on Eurosport 1 but for now that is the best we can hope for. And the best part is that the Vegas race is the ONLY live event for the day on E2. There is a tape delayed lacrosse game before the race. So overrunning won't be happening!"

For comparison: Eurosport is the most widely available channel in Europe, reaching over 95 million homes and 250 million viewers in 54 countries. Eurosport 2 is distributed in over 35 countries reaching just 17 million homes. While Eurosport is part of every basic cable package, Eurosport 2 is usually in an optional paying package.
