Villeneuve to Toyota?

(GMM) Jacques Villeneuve has denied knowledge of rumors linking him with a switch to Toyota next year.

The veteran racer, who is applying pressure on BMW-Sauber to renew his contract beyond 2006, reacted with surprise when confronted with the whisper at an event in central London on Tuesday.

Asked about the Toyota suggestion, with Jarno Trulli's contract up for renewal, 35-year-old Villeneuve replied: ''Really?''

''(That's the) first time I've heard that one. Where did you hear that?''

JV's current contract got an eleventh hour confirmation by BMW, and the team's Mario Theissen has stated this year that he similarly feels under no pressure to quickly announce the next lineup.

Villeneuve agreed: ''I haven't been told yet that we are going to work together next year.

''I have no idea what is happening.''
