Champ Car grid set to expand

Although perhaps only one new part-time single car team may come into Champ Car in 2006 (Eurointernational), we may see grids as high as 22 or more cars in some if not all races. How? If the sponsorship materializes look for Newman/Haas, Forsythe, Team Australia, PKV Racing and possibly HVM and RuSPORT to expand to 3-car teams. Add those to this year's 18 cars and 22 or more are possible. Now more than ever drivers from around the world are eyeing Champ Car because they see the series poised for a major comeback. 2007 will see new teams and we predict grids as large as 26 to 28 cars.
