Tanaka to head GPMA

There has been talk for some days that the Grand Prix Manufacturers Association is to be headed by former Honda F1 president Shoichi Tanaka, who retired earlier this year as head of the Japanese company's F1 operations, after a long and successful career with Honda. The news has not been confirmed by the GPMA but an announcement is expected within the next few days.

Tanaka (62) worked with Honda from 1966 and after a series of high profile mainstream jobs, including being president of Honda France and senior vice-president of Honda North America, he was appointed head of Honda operations in Indonesia and in 1999 president of the new Honda racing Developments. For the last six years he has overseen activities until handing over the job to Yasuhiro Wada. Grandprix.com
