Pizzonia eyes Aguri seat

Antonio Pizzonia does not expect to be retained by Williams next season and is looking elsewhere for a Formula 1 drive. According to reports on SpeedTV.com, Pizzonia has set his sights on BMW’s new works team or the Super Aguri squad launched by former racer Aguri Suzuki yesterday.

Despite being linked with the A1 Grand Prix and Champ Car series in the past, Pizzonia indicated that his priority is to stay in F1, even if he has to settle for a third driver role.

“I am talking with BMW, Super Aguri and all the other teams that will have a third Friday car next year," Pizzonia is quoted as saying.

“I have just turned 25 and am still very young. I have received offers from other series (Champ Car) but I want to stay in F1 – I think I deserve to be in it."

With that said, we here at AutoRacing1.com believe Aguri will use two Japanese drivers, hence Pizzonia's chances of a ride will be as a test driver, something he refuses to do at Williams.
