What’s ‘EJ’ smiling about?
Former formula one team owner Eddie Jordan woke up with a smile on his face on Monday morning. The Irishman had traveled to Spain's Costa del Sol with countryman and golfer Paul McGinley, for the 'Volvo Masters'.
Spotting odds for a McGinley win at 33-1, 'EJ' placed a 'five figure' bet in British pounds — and the rest is history.
Jordan's windfall, for a bet of 10,000 pounds (the lowest possible five-figure flutter), was at least (US) $585,000. A bet of 50,000 pounds would've put an extra $2.92m in the former F1 boss' wallet.
''I've known Eddie for 20 years,'' McGinley said of 'EJ', who caddied for him at the BMW championship at Wentworth, ''he's been a great friend.
''Since he sold his team, I've spent more time with him. I think he has been very instrumental in this win. He's been down here all week.''
