IRL eyes Los Angeles

Our inside sources in Los Angeles tell us that the IRL is talking to the Mayor's office in Los Angeles about a street race. Apparently the businessmen in downtown don't want it on their doorstep, so they're currently discussing Chavez Ravine, where Dodger Stadium is. At first blush, this could seem like a good idea… sort of a Mexico City format (a parking lot course that goes in and out of a big sports stadium) in Los Angeles, a city that is more than 50% Latino. However, while the parking lot and access roads are certainly big enough, Dodger Stadium is far too small and would require structural modifications… even if you could get the owners to let you pave over the baseball diamond for a weekend. No, along with the developing San Antonio debacle, this seems like more floundering from a mortally wounded organization. Mark C.
