Michelin and Bridgestone divide up ’06 grid

UPDATE An official announcement is still missing, but Toyota has effectively confirmed that it will switch from Michelin to Bridgestone tires for the 2006 F1 season. Michelin's Edouard Michelin let the cat out of the bag at Spa-Francorchamps a few races ago when he said: ''We will no longer supply Toyota.''

Asked about Michelin's unsubstantiated revelation, Toyota principal Tsutomu Tomita said at Suzuka that ''it is a good time to reconsider the (tire) contracts. ''Michelin's tire performance is getting better and better but I am very sure the Bridgestone tire will be very nice for us.''

09/10/05 Rumor has it that Michelin will announce this evening in Spa that it will supply the following teams in 2006:
Renault, McLaren, BMW, BAR Honda and Red Bull Ferrari

Therefore, Bridgestone will be supplying:
Ferrari, Jordan Toyota, Minardi, Toyota and Williams Cosworth.
