Next Finn with eye on F1

With the GP2 title lost to Nico Rosberg, Finland's Heikki Kovalainen is now resetting his focus towards formula one.

The 23-year-old, who is a member of Renault's young driver program, has revealed that he is about to begin discussing 2006 with formula one boss Flavio Briatore.

''That's what I want to do,'' he said, ''but I don't know. I wanted to wait until the season is over so I haven't actually thought about it too much.''

Kovalainen, who was Renault's 'reserve' driver at the United States grand prix this year, was gutted when beaten to the inaugural GP2 crown in Bahrain.

''There are positive things (about 2005),'' said the winner of five GP2 races, ''although I don't feel great about them right now. ''Second place doesn't mean a lot to me.''
