A1 GP eyes San Antonio, Texas

In San Antonio, Tom Orsborn reported the A1 Grand Prix, financed by Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum of United Arab Emirates’ ruling family, “has approached the city about hosting a street race next year." An ’05-06 schedule released on A1’s Web site includes a San Antonio race on February 26, but San Antonio interim City Manager Rolando Bono said, “That’s the first I’ve heard of it." A1’s North American rep, St. Louis-based motorsports consultant Dan Layton, said, “To my knowledge discussions with the city are ongoing."
