Champ Car’s $2 million gamble

According to the Oregonian, co-promoting this year's Champ Car race with Mike Nealey will be Champ Car itself. G.I. Joe's returns as presenting sponsor. The Oregonian says this is a $2-million financial gamble for the sanctioning body. The Portland race has lost money at its last three events so promotion has been broadened from the greater Portland area to include the entire state. If they lose money again this year, the plug could be pulled on this event.
