Jeff Bucknum to drive for Dreyer and Reinbold

The late Ronnie Bucknum will forever be linked with Honda's motorsports family since he drove the company's first Formula One car in 1964 and then drove the last Honda chassis/engine combination during a special test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1968. And now his son is going to continue this storied relationship. SPEEDTV.com has learned that Jeff Bucknum will drive a Honda-powered Dallara in the 89th annual Indianapolis 500 for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. The 27-year-old California native may take his Indy Racing League rookie test next Monday at Homestead, Fla. following Sunday's 2005 season opener. Neither Dennis Reinbold or Bucknum could be reached for comment but the announcement is expected this weekend. It's believed he would make his Indy-car debut at Motegi, Japan on May 1st as a teammate to Roger Yasukawa. SPEEDTV.com
