SMP Racing will test Monegasque driver Stefano Coletti at Circuit Paul Ricard today in one of its BR Engineering BR01 Nissans.

Coletti, 26, ran the full Verizon IndyCar Series season in 2015, but struggled with only one top-10 finish in 16 starts with the KV Racing Technology team. He finished lowest of all full-season drivers in 19th place in points in his first season after coming over from the GP2 Series.

SMP Racing has one of its FIA WEC seats still to fill in LMP2, with Nicolas Minassian having confirmed to Sportscar365 that he and Maurizio Mediani would be in one of the BR01 Nissans. The other car will feature an all-Russian lineup of Vitaly Petrov, Kirill Ladygin and Victor Shaytar.

Coletti will join Memo Rojas as notable other drivers who’ve tested the BR01 since the WEC season finale in Bahrain.

Additional drivers are also expected to test the BR01 Nissan at the French circuit. Tony DiZinno/Sportscar365
