Charlotte Motor Speedway announced today that Hall Of Fame rockers ZZ Top will perform a pre-race concert prior to the running of the 56th annual Coca Cola 600 on May 24. The concert will be free for all Coca Cola 600 ticket holders.

Band members Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill joined NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Danica Patrick, along with Charlotte Motor Speedway President and General Manager Marcus Smith for the announcement.
"
Our music has long been synonymous with great NASCAR action and we're looking forward to continuing that tradition with the May 24th appearance at Charlotte Motor Speedway," the band said in a statement. "Fast cars, rockin' music and the greatest fans in the world is a winning combination as far as we’re concerned."

Gibbons and Hill along with bandmate Frank Beard have been performing together since 1969. The band has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

"ZZ Top has performed for millions of fans around the world for nearly as long as Charlotte Motor Speedway has been entertaining fans in the heart of NASCAR country," said Smith. “Just like Charlotte Motor Speedway is part of the fabric of NASCAR’s storied history, ZZ Top is synonymous with classic rock and hot cars and we can’t wait for them to join us for the biggest Memorial Day Weekend celebration on the planet."
