Andretti bows out of Miami ePrix

Marco Andretti

Andretti Autosport IndyCar driver Marco Andretti will not compete in next month's Miami ePrix, as originally planned. Andretti ran for the team last month in Buenos Aires, finishing 12th.

The third-generation driver cited a schedule conflict moments ago on Twitter:

@MarcoAndretti: "Had to bow out of the Miami @FIAformulaE race due to a schedule conflict. Bummer."

Scuderia Ferrari test driver Jean-Eric Vergne is expected to be in one of the Andretti cars in Miami. Thus far, no word on who Vergne's teammate might be in what has been a revolving door of drivers thus far for the Andretti Formula E team.

Of course, Franck Montagny, who finished second in the Beijing opener, tested positive for a derivative of cocaine and has been suspended indefinitely. Vergne has contested the last two ePrix for the team. Charles Pic and Matthew Brabham, have also made appearances for the team, making a total of five drivers through four races.

It is possible Andretti may return to the team for the Long Beach round April 4th, an off weekend for the Verizon IndyCar Series.
