Kurt Busch is back in Charlotte

Indianapolis 500 practice resumed Wednesday afternoon after rain fell just prior to 2:00pm/et on Tuesday, halting the session. Kurt Busch, who spent Sunday through Tuesday at the track, headed back to Charlotte for Wednesday to check in with his Stewart-Haas Racing #41 team on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series side. With rain falling in Indianapolis, it made no sense for Busch to stick around. Still, he's pleased with where he's at right now. "It definitely wasn't on my radar. But what I've been able to do as a student is each day progress at a strong rate, and progressing is being able to digest the information and then being able to apply it the next day," he said, in a statement released by the team. Busch compared Indianapolis a bit to another abnormal oval design, Darlington.

"As far as guys getting tows and posting those good laps, some of my drafting experience helps from what I've seen at Daytona and Talladega; Indianapolis has a little bit of Darlington characteristics into it," Busch said. "What I mean by that is you have to be single file and you have to know which corner you are approaching at all times, and it's a matter of give and take with the other drivers out on the track." Busch is expected to be back in Indianapolis for Thursday's practice, stay through qualifying on Saturday and then fly to Charlotte for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. NBC Sports
