Archer Racing announces TA2 program for Trans Am Series
Leading the way is Archer Racing, a Duluth, Minnesota based race team, making its way back into Trans Am.
“We are very excited about returning to the Trans Am Series and are ready to get moving in TA2," said John Archer, owner of Archer Racing. “It’s a great platform for racing and we think it has a bright future, as does all of Trans Am."
When the Trans Am Series begins the 2014 Championship at Sebring International Raceway on March 2nd and follows it up with Round Two at Homestead-Miami on March 9th, Archer Racing will have three cars on the grid but is planning to increase that tally to around six or eight cars by mid-season.
“We’re getting inquiries everyday from drivers interested in joining the Archer Racing team," said Archer. “We’re going to start the year with three cars, but I could easily see that growing throughout the year, hopefully with six to eight cars by mid-season."
“We offer a great program for racers who own a car but lack the time or resources to run at their desired level," said Archer. “As always we expect a learning curve with the new TA2 cars and equipment, but as we develop the program and our drivers gain seat time we’re looking forward to a competitive year for Archer Racing."
The three drivers Archer Racing will have on grid to start the 2014 Season are Nate Stokey, David Mazyck and Frank Lussier.
Stokey will be at the wheel of the #49 Archer Racing/ TeamTech Chevrolet Camaro. Based out of Midvale, Ohio, Stokey started sports car racing in 2003 and has multiple accolades under his belt with experience in the ViperDays/NARRA USGT Series and GT-1. He is a 2008 and 2010 GT-1 Champion, 2013 North Cup GT-1 Champion and 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2013 GT-1 Runner Up. Stokey has been a member of the Archer Racing team since 2007.
David Mazyck, starting in the #71 Archer Racing/Race-keeper/TeamTech Chevrolet Camaro, brings with him experience in the Viper Racing League (presently NARRA). In the VRL Mazyck was the 2008 and 2009 GT1 National Champion, a Rookie of the Year, and captured a multitude of podium finishes in the SRT Viper Cup throughout 2012 and 2013, while finishing 2nd in the 2013 SRT Viper Cup.
Frank Lussier, driver of the # 53 Archer Racing/Race-keeper/TeamTech Chevrolet Camaro, started sports car racing in 2010 at Barber Motorsports Park with NARRA after five years of motorcycle and auto club track days. During his racing career to date Lussier has been a 2010 VRL ACR Class National Champion, NARRA Rookie of the Year, 2012 GT-1 Champion, and placed third in the 2013 Championship.
