Ecclestone offers huge reward for evidence of F1 Budget-cap breakers
Bernie Ecclestone has offered a $1.4 million reward to anyone who provides evidence that teams are breaking the sport’s $200 million a year spending cap.
In December, F1’s governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), announced that budgets will be limited from 2015 to curb the teams’ high-octane splurging and make the sport more financially sustainable.
"We have approved the budget cap. It is going to happen. Everyone agreed to $200 million. What hasn’t been agreed is what is in the $200 million. Unless we include everything, I am sure people will find ways around it. It’s going to be difficult," said Ecclestone.
He added the reward would be paid to anyone who has valid evidence, not just F1 personnel.
