Luyendyk says IndyCar should post testing times

Arie Luyendyk believes IndyCar is squandering an opportunity to generate more sponsorship and coverage by not publishing test times. We think he's right.

Arie Luyendyk must read AR1.

After all, the 1990 and 1997 Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk argues for something we at AR1 have been hammering for years: IndyCar needs to publish testing times.

Think about it. If a driver set a fast time in a given test fans would wonder if the time was set in qualifying or race trim. Maybe, the team took weight off the car? Maybe, this driver has gained two-tenths during the off-season? Maybe, this team has made a significant step forward in their damper program, or found more rear down force?

Of course, no such thing occurs. Yes, teams may protect certain information, but we know for sure, they also prevent the opportunity to gain more coverage, and create more buzz in advance of the season.

Luyendyk is right. This is a no-brainer.
