Pat Garlits, the wife of ‘Big Daddy’ Don Garlits, dies

Pat Garlits, the wife of drag racing legend “Big Daddy" Don Garlits, died of Alzheimer’s disease on February 2. Through over sixty years of marriage, Pat travelled with her famed husband, one of the greatest drag racers in history. She died at home accompanied by her two daughters, holding Mr. Garlits’ hand, according to a letter he wrote, with her favorite big band music in the background.
