NASCAR driver Travis Kvapil gets probation, community service for assault

NASCAR driver Travis Kvapil has agreed to a sentence of probation and community service as part of a deferred prosecution agreement stemming from his arrest in a domestic assault case last year, according to a report by SportingNews.com.

Kvapil, 37, will serve two years probation (at least one year supervised) and must perform 72 hours of community service after agreeing to the plea agreement Thursday in Iredell County (N.C.) District Court.

Kvapil was arrested at his home Oct. 8, 2013 by Mooresville, N.C. police and charged with misdemeanor false imprisonment and assault after allegedly pulling wife Jennifer by her hair and striking her in the head during an argument, according to a police report.

As part of the plea deal, charges against Kvapil can eventually be dropped if he successfully completes the probation and community service terms without any further incidents, the report said.

Kvapil paid $460 in court costs and fees and must also attend an anger management class, according to the report.
