Barcelona Saturday: Massa leads early, new Red Bull appears

With just two days of pre-season testing remaining before the start of the F1 season in Australia, Red Bull has introduced a raft of new upgrades onto the RB8 for Saturday running in Barcelona.

Both Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel had hinted that there were changes to come with the car following the first two days of running at the Catalunya circuit, with a revised RB8 taking to the track this morning with Webber at the wheel.

“We've had our first glimpse of the new parts on the Red Bull and it's effectively a completely new car," technical analyst Gary Anderson told BBC Sport. “The chassis is the same, I'm sure, but there's a new front wing and a completely redesigned underfloor and coke-bottle area at the back.

“The exhaust exits are fairly far forward but there is a down-feeding duct behind them and an inlet on the top of the floor. It seems they're trying to get the exhaust flow down into that inlet to feed the diffuser.

"The first impressions are that the Red Bull is a really nicely detailed car – there are ducts and bits and pieces everywhere. It's a very complicated bodywork set-up and it will take some more looking at to understand what's going on."

Full lap times as of 11am local time, on day three of the final four-day F1 group test in Barcelona, Spain.
