NASCAR Toyota Series Introduced In Mexico

In an official ceremony before members of the media at the Banamex Center, located northwest of Mexico City, a presentation was held to officially announce the NASCAR Toyota Series. For the past five years, Toyota has demonstrated interest and commitment to motorsports in Mexico and for the 2012 season the car manufacturer has signed on to become the title sponsor of the stock-car series, marking a significant moment for the NASCAR Mexico organization.

The unveiling of the new series name and logo was headed by Federico Alamán, CEO of NASCAR Mexico, and Guillermo Lira, marketing manager for Toyota, who, together, presented the new look for this season.

"Today, we not only announce a joint effort, but also it marks the start of a strong alliance between brands, Toyota and our distributors take an important step in our motorsports history in Mexico," stated Lira.

Federico Alamán announced the new direction for stock-car racing in Mexico, which celebrates its ninth year overall and sixth as a joint venture with NASCAR.

The 2012 NASCAR Toyota Series season has 14 races on its schedule beginning with the March 25 opener in Monterrey and culminating in the November 11 season finale in Mexico City. The 2012 season also make stops in San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Puebla and Aguascalientes. Additionally, the series returns to the city of Guadalajara this season and will debut in the state of Chihuahua.

Mexico City also will host NASCAR Toyota Series’ first night race on Saturday, May 12.

The 2012 NASCAR Toyota Series season is greatly anticipated by fans, who eagerly await the launch of the season to enjoy all the action the premiere racing series Mexico has to offer.
