Webber: #1 on car won’t make Vettel faster

Mark Webber feels confident that he will be given an equal chance to compete with newly crowned Formula 1 champion, his Red Bull Racing team mate Sebastian Vettel in 2011 and has gone as far as saying that the number 1 on the means very little.

Speaking during a promotional tour in Thailand the Australian said, “Full credit to Seb to have the No 1 on his car, but come first practice in Bahrain, that won’t make him go any faster."

On the scrapping of team orders, Webber does not believe he will have to give way to Vettel in the new season, “The team know the best way to defend our championship is to put both their feet forward in the best possible way," Webber said at a promotional visit in Thailand. “That is why we achieved so much as a team."

Recent reports indicate that the two red Bull drivers have patched up their differences, which were ignited when they collided famously during the Turkish GP in May.

Webber is ready to take on all comers, including his teammate, in his quest for the 2011, title, “I am absolutely confident that next year will be a great opportunity for me to get phenomenal results again."

Webber drove the Red Bull f1 showcar on the streets of Bangkok, which happens to be the home of the Krating Daeng energy drink brand that became Red Bull.
