State Fair panel OKs plans for new I-94 sign for Milwaukee Mile

A Wisconsin State Fair committee on Monday endorsed plans to spend up to $266,000 to replace the fair sign alongside I-94. The new sign should pay for itself in two years through advertising sales, State Fair officials said. The sign generates as much as $150,000 a year in advertising revenue.

The fair's Executive Committee also endorsed several projects intended to repair parts of the Milwaukee Mile in advance of next year's IndyCar schedule. The tunnel leading to the track needs repairs, as does the Milwaukee Mile office building along W. Greenfield Ave. The repair work could cost as much as $181,000.

IndyCar racing is returning to the Mile next June. All of the projects must be approved by the full Wisconsin State Fair Board. JSOnline.com
