Indy 500 winner Franchitti to present Camaro Pace Car

2010 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race winner Dario Franchitti will present the keys of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Indianapolis 500 Pace Car No. 1 to Bruce Barhydt of Apex, N.C., winner of the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Sweepstakes, at noon Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's famed "Yard of Bricks."

Barhydt and his wife, Barbara, recently moved from Indiana to North Carolina and are longtime Indianapolis 500 fans. Franchitti, who earned his second Indianapolis 500 victory May 30 driving the No. 10 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, will be available for interviews after presenting the car to the Barhydt's, posing for photos and taking them on several ceremonial laps.

The replica Pace Car No. 1 is the same Chevrolet Camaro SS, featuring a 400-horsepower, 6.2-litre V8 engine and custom Indianapolis 500 design trim inside and out, that Indianapolis Motor Speedway Chairman of the Board Mari Hulman George drove throughout the month of May.
