Kahne livid with teammate Allmendinger

In the latest version of teammates not treating each other like teammates, Richard Petty Motorsports' AJ Allmendinger blocked Kasey Kahne to trigger a spectacular eight-car crash on the final lap of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 on Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

Allmendinger forced Kahne into the grass, and Kahne’s car turned and spun up the track, getting hit by the cars of Mark Martin, Greg Biffle and Martin Truex Jr. The collision lifted Kahne’s car so high off the track that its wheels were atop the Pocono Raceway wall on the straightaway between turns 2 and 3.

Also getting collected in the incident were Marcos Ambrose, Jeff Gordon, Elliott Sadler and David Stremme.

Kahne was not happy with his RPM teammate.

“He just starts left and I was in the grass at that point. … I don’t know what AJ was doing there," Kahne said. “I don’t ever really talk to him much, but you can bet I will be talking to him this week."

Allmendinger apologized for the incident.

“Kasey had a big run and I defended it and I didn’t think he was coming as quick as he was," Allmendinger said. “By the time I moved, he was already there and got in the grass. I’m sorry to everybody’s race teams that got caught up in that."

Biffle put the blame squarely on Allmendinger.

“I don’t know what his deal is," Biffle said. “He totally caused that whole thing. … He ran him down on the grass. You can’t run a guy down on the grass. You can’t run your teammate down onto the grass.

“That is horrible. He could have backed out of that before he put him down like that." Scenedaily.com
