Williams to use new rear wings in Canada

Williams F1 Technical Director Sam Michael has explained that the Grove team will be debuting brand-new rears wings on the cars of Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hülkenberg at next weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

The former World Champion squad was forced to run with old version front wings in Istanbul – after the newest specifications had been destroyed in separate accidents at the previous Monaco Grand Prix – which lost both cars at least 5.8 seconds over the total race distance in Turkey.

However, Michael is pleased to confirm that new rear wings will be in use at the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve.

"We will have some more aero parts for the cars which should improve our performance, as well as a couple of mechanical upgrades," the Australian explained.

"We will also have the medium-drag rear wings specific to this race."
