Lewis Hamilton charged for Aussie stunt

Lewis Hamilton has been officially notified of the charge he faces over an incident on the eve of the Australian Grand Prix when he was stopped by police and charged with intentionally losing control of a vehicle.

Hamilton apologized for "over-exuberant" driving outside Albert Park track after the first day of practice for the race. "What I did was silly, and I want to apologize for it," he said in a statement at the time.

Police allege that Hamilton's car had "accelerated heavily and lost traction to the rear wheels" in making the turn. The case will be heard in Melbourne Magistrates Court on August 24. ESPN.co.uk
