Viso Released From Methodist Hospital

EJ Viso escaped serious injury in this crash Tuesday

KV Racing Technology driver E. J Viso was released from Methodist Hospital late Tuesday evening after X-Ray and MRI tests were negative following a practice crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tuesday afternoon.

Viso, 25, from Venezuela, made contact with the turn one wall in the No. 8 PDVSA – KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone entry near the end of practice. Viso’s car slid down the short shoot between turns one and two on the famed 2.5-mile oval. Viso was removed from his car and taken to the track infield medical center listed as awake and alert.

Viso was complaining of back pain and was transported to Methodist Hospital where he went through a variety of tests and was examined by Dr. Terry Trammell, the famed orthopedic surgeon. Viso was released from Methodist Hospital before 11 p.m. feeling bruised and sore.

Viso expects to be back at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Wednesday with his team’s backup car being constructed in the KV Racing Technology garage area. Viso must be examined by the IZOD IndyCar Series physicians before he can return to the cockpit for practice laps in preparations for the Indy 500.

Viso’s KVRT teammates, Mario Moraes, Paul Tracy and Takuma Sato, will be back in action Wednesday when practice begins at noon.
