ART signs Piquet for Ferrari drive

Last Friday Nelson Piquet Jr. jointed �lvaro Parente on their first contact with the Ferrari 430 GT2, which they are going to co-drive in GT Open in Barcelona, by performing a long training session in AIA circuit in Portugal.

After ART’s team complete domination on the first stage of the Spanish GT championship, Nelson Piquet Jr.’s presence was also able to gather new data for the car’s division in the Open GT stage, as well as to proceed with some improvements, characteristic from this kind of sessions.

Nelson Piquet Jr. ran several sessions throughout the day and made some changes to the car with Ã�lvaro Parente. He was very pleased with the car, which revealed to be “very balanced and easy to drive" throughout the day.

According to Ã�lvaro Parente, who is very used to this car, Nelson Piquet’s performance was “what he expected to be, since we already know him from A1GP and F3", confessing also that the their friendship is “always a positive element, when sharing the wheel and achieving victory together".

Nelson Piquet revealed it was “a good day to establish this first contact with the car. However, more time will be required to explore the car’s fullest potential". It was the fist time that Nelson Piquet has ever driven a Ferrari 430 GT2 and he was “very pleased" with the car’s performance, in comparison with a GT1 class car.

The test sessions were attended by two well-know Portuguese television personalities, Marta Leite Castro and Silvia Rizzo, who were lucky to make a taxi-experience with both pilots.
